Mayalibit Bay in Waigeo Island, Raja Ampat Regency

What can tourists do in Mayalibit Bay? Well, the prime attraction is the presence of sea creatures. These include shrimps, long-jawed mackerel, and sea cucumbers. According to researchers, the bay has a perfect environment for those creatures. Moreover, it is said more than 200 types of fishes live there. Some parts of the bay even become the home of local lobsters! No wonder, most villagers take advantage of such richness. They even cultivate the fishes and shrimps then sell them in the market.
Apart from exploring the bay, tourists have the chance to visit nearby villages. There are 11 villages, which are located near to Mayalibit Bay. Some of them are Beo, Arway, and Waifoi. Most of the villagers work as a fisherman, so they are often seen in the bay. Tourists can even learn and watch how those people catch fishes in the location. Usually, the locals ride a traditional boat at night. During the harvest time, they are able to catch more than 500 fishes!
Before leaving the bay, it is better to try snorkeling. The bay is suitable to do such fun activity, after all. The crystal clear water and excellent environment make it a perfect spot for diving as well. Thus, tourists should not forget to carry diving gear when visiting Mayalibit Bay. How to Get There
First, travelers should head to Waigeo Island through Marinda Airport, which is located in Waisai City. Next, it is time to ride any local transportation service to the port. The thing is it requires a speedboat in order to get closer to the bay. From Waisai Port, it takes about 15 minutes to reach Mayalibit Bay.
